Implant Dentistry in Narberth

At Main Line Center for Dental Excellence, we believe our patients should love their smile. As a multispecialty practice, our team is comprised of experts in different areas of dental care, so we focus on both the health and beauty of your smile from the inside out. For patients who have experienced tooth loss or require tooth removal, dental implants offer a comfortable feeling and natural looking solution.

Dental implants are artificial tooth replacements that provide a long lasting solution for replacing teeth. We can use implants to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or the entire upper dental arch. If you are interested in tooth replacement or would like an expert’s opinion on your dental health, contact our office in Narberth and schedule a visit with us today.

Implant Types

The Root Implant

This is the most popular implant available, and it's highly effective in replicating the shape, size, and durability of a patient's natural tooth. The implant, which acts as an artificial tooth root, is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia.

Implants are made from titanium, which gives them the unusual property of osseointegration - they literally fuse with the bone surrounding them, creating a seamless foundation for an artificial tooth. Once we place the implant, we'll give it time to heal and integrate with the jawbone, and then we'll place a new tooth over the implant. The entire process generally takes between three and eight months.

Other Implants

If the jaw isn't wide enough to support a regular cylindrical implant, we'll use a plate form implant. These contain a wide, flat plate or blade-like base that's inserted into the jaw, helping to provide the same support and stability of a regular implant with less width.

If the jawbone has receded to the point that it can't support an implant, we'll use a subperiosteal implant. These are a more involved form of implant, using a lace-like structure that spans the entire arch of the jaw. While it requires a more complicated procedure, they're highly effective for patients with advanced jawbone problems and can replace an entire row of teeth.
